Odds-on favorite Karakorum Fugitive pulls away from Olde Glamour in the stretch, 8th race, Belmont Park, 5/28/09.
I’m redoing my horse handicapping by focusing a few items, mainly inspired by Dave Litfin’s books:
Layoff…who’s running best from 30 and 60 days off
Beyer speed figures…who’s pairing up good numbers, who’s making small and large gains
Class…watching drops in class carefully
Claim info…who, when
This in addition to the other variables I’m already exploring:
Jockey (single most important factor)
Track familiarity (horses for courses)
Dosage profile in relation to track profile
I go back to the track next Wednesday. I didn’t do too bad testing out 19 different variables of form, but I think I was oversold on the workouts and not enough on the class/claim info. I lost $12 in the 10 races…..
Among the finalists I think the Mexican Hot Chocolate is out of place. I feel people will pay for something …homely…something bringing back memories. I voted for Chocolate Monkey…tho the toffee one looks enticing too.
In other news, the local DD is closed for reno. Oy.
